In short - The Vijitt is, at time of writing, THE best hotel that I have stayed at in all of my travels.
I loved the fact that it is situated far away from the hustle and bustle of more touristy sites such as Patong beach. While it is a good 45-minute drive away from the airport and 30 minutes from Patong, its location means that you get to spend your time at this hotel in total relaxation - however, it is right next to a beach that is not suitable for swimming because of rocks. I did not mind this as the infinity-edge pool was sufficient for me, as was the (complimentary and highly recommended) day-trip to Coral Island by boat. The hotel provides a shuttle service to Phuket town and Jungceylon (if I am not mistaken), but there are only limited departures each day so I would suggest renting a car for convenience. Car hire is not expensive in Phuket.
I was impressed by the service and attentiveness of ALL the staff at this hotel from the moment I set foot in the lobby to check in until the minute I checked out. We were served delicious lemongrass tea while having our check-in processed by the receptionist, which was completed in no time, and were then introduced to our personal assistant for the length of our stay, Netty. She was extremely polite, friendly and hospitable. We were then escorted to our villa on a buggy. Once we were in the villa, she introduced us to all the amenities available inside the villa and at the hotel.
We stayed in a deluxe villa facing the sea. These villas are VERY spacious with floor to ceiling windows allowing lots of light in. The bathroom was about the same size as the bedroom (ie. huge) with sinks for him and her, a bathtub/Jacuzzi, and a lovely outdoor rainforest shower. The dressing area and wardrobe were also of a considerable size with all imaginable amenities, including mosquito repellent which you may need when you are relaxing on the lazy chairs in your private verandah overlooking the Andaman sea. Unlike most hotel websites, the pictures on this hotel's official website are quite representative of what you will see when you get there personally. There were no loud pounding music from any disco or lounge, boisterous groups on their hen night or screaming children to ruin the tranquility of my stay there - the environment was just what I needed to unwind. All the guests at this resort seemed to be couples on a getaway/honeymoon.
A complimentary day trip to Coral Island by boat is provided by the hotel, including the shuttle to the pier. I would highly recommend taking this trip, as Coral Island seems to be less crowded and there is also an area reserved for snorkeling. Water sports facilities are also available. The resort staff served us some refreshing pineapple juice when we arrived. There are also chairs on the beach reserved only for Vijitt hotel guests. To our delight, they also provided towels and mineral water. (Lunch however is not provided and the only option you have there is a buffet costing about THB300 at a restaurant that is not run by the hotel)
Cons-
MANY - i mean MANY - creepy crawlies roam the foot paths after it rains - it may not bother you but for those who are terrified of these things like me it's a good thing to know beforehand! Also, we found the food at the buffet breakfast mediocre... but it was a good selection nevertheless!
Other than these, I have no other complaints about this amazing establishment and have been hoping to come back soon! I would like to mention the exemplary service provided to us by our personal villa assistant, the housekeeping staff and bellboy who went out of their ways to make our stay extra pleasant. I loved The Vijitt so much that I've booked my parents a stay in October!
